And in rode the four horsemen….

   Posted by: Yoggie    in Sports

Red Sox won! Red Sox won! Red Sox won!

So I guess the curse is lifted. About damn time.

But is this a sign of the coming Apocalypse? We did have a lunar eclipse last night.

And if you believe these two nimrods, then the end is imminent.

Friday Five child

   Posted by: Yoggie    in Uncategorized

Yes, i know I’m late. I’ve been behind on everything this month.

When you were a child…

1. what did you want to be when you grew up and why?
An artist and a writer. I wanted to paint like DaVinci and write like Issac Asimov. Unfortunately when I got older I realized that I enjoyed eating and sleeping in a bed so I decided to find a more steady occupation.

2. who was your favorite person to do things with (excluding your parents)?
Myself. I was a real loner back when I was a kid. I played by myself, talked to myself, played with myself…. uhm, you didn’t read that.

3. did you love school or did you hate it? Why? Did that change as you got older?
I always like school, I just didn’t like all the people with whom I went to school. I always found school as an escape from real life, a time when I didn’t have to worry about anything just learning. It hasn’t changed much since I got older, I just don’t use school as an escape any more.

4. was your family close? What were your favorite family traditions?
I was never close to my family. I always felt like an outsider no matter who I was with me. I’m not even close to my sister or my brother.

5. did you think that being an adult would be cool?
Cool? Not so much as being able to make my own decisions. I realized early in my life that the little frills of being older came with a lot of responsibility and hard work.

And if you are wondering, no, I did not have a happy childhood.

Do your Friday Five.

I’m here (I guess)

   Posted by: Yoggie    in Errata

That was one wild week. Talk about a week that you get absolutely nothing done… well, I did learn some stuff and got some new ideas. The conference wasn’t as wild as it has been in the past, I guess everyone is still feeling the effects of the slow economy and slashed budgets. I will have to remember not to get sick the next time I go to this particular conference since it was more fun when you are not sober.

Thanks to Lyndi for letting everyone know that I hadn’t fallen off the edge of the Earth and thanks to her for helping me put my office back into shape.

“No, I think the computer will look better over there.”
“Why don’t you requisition a new desk? That one is so… so sterile. And it doesn’t look too comfortable to fool around on.”
“This chair is awfully lumpy. Why don’t you get a new one.”
“This office needs curtains, bright curtains.”
“You need a hammock in here. No, not for that, for when you need a quick snooze.”
“So, where do you put the beer?”
“I like the new carpet. Can you get the walls painted bright pink?”
“That desk looks very heavy. Do you want me to get someone to help you?”
“I bought a new bra, want to see it? No, I’m not wearing it, it’s in my bag silly.”
“You’re so cute when you blush.”

She may not have moved anything, but she did make the boring task a bit more enjoyable.

Word of advice to all you women out there, do not go help someone move office furniture around wearing tight, hip hugger jeans and a tight , fuzzy sweater. The guys refurbishing the next office asked me this morning if that “hot redhead” was coming back today.

Mikey’s back

   Posted by: Yoggie    in Uncategorized

Mikey is back from that conference. I talked to him yesterday and he was exhaused but doing O.K. He should be back on the computer sometime today. He has to re-arrange his office this morning and hook all his stuff back up after his office was re-furbished or something while he was away.

He looked so tired yesterday.

I going to go see if he needs any help with his office.

It was nice to speak with you wonderful people again and keep the emails coming at lyndired at hotmail dot com.

Hugs and kisses to everyone.

- Lyndi

Still conferencin’

   Posted by: Yoggie    in Errata

Yep, I is still here. Things are still hoppin’ and a boppin’ just not in my area. I am so bored that I would love just to go home and work! No parties, no drinkin’, no nothin’. Boring.

Well I guess it is not a total loss. I am learning valuable things about my profession in the area of programming and security, with a little system admin and Human Resources (?) added in. And the state is paying for it, so I can’t really complain.

I’ll see y’all later.

Oh and sex, sex, sex.

I’m here!

   Posted by: Yoggie    in Personal

Just wanted to let y’all know that I made it to the conference in one piece… well in body if not in mind.

Didn’t think you’d hear from me eh? You can’t get rid of me that easily.

I’m doing fine, learning all sorts of new stuff, and not getting into trouble… yet. But then they haven’t opened the bar yet.

I check back in later.

Well I off, or soon will be

Posted by: Yoggie    in Site News

My apologies about not posting yesterday, but we have been busy with planning and getting ready for a five-day conference that will take about half of our department out of town.

Yes, I am going to the conference as well so that means probably no postings until I get back on Sunday. Why no postings? I have a really full agenda starting from 7 AM every morning and ending around 6 PM every night while we are at the conference, and that does not include the extras like parties and vendor sponsored events that go on until the wee hours of the morning. You don’t know how wild IT people can be until you attend one of those conferences that are held miles from the disapproving stares of spouses and families.. sorta like Vegas for computer people. Yes, I am alluding to the “what goes on here, stays here” motto. Since the provided PC’s are in limited supply and I don’t have a laptop (hint, hint), I will probably get absolutely no computer time. I’m gonna be in serious PC withdrawal by the time I get back home.

I just hope that cute redhead that was there the last time I went doesn’t show up. I had a hard enough time concentrating on the how XML is integrated into Oracle database web applications without her nibbling on my ear.

Dream Friday Five

Posted by: Yoggie    in Friday Five

Dream dream dream dreeeeam…

1. What was the last dream that you had about?
Sometimes I have epic dreams. Then there are dreams like I had last night where I had this dream about being in a bar where this nice looking blond was a bartender. She wasn’t the kind of girl I usually hung around with when I was the age that I was in the dream. All we did in the dream was talk. I found her very attractive and desirable. We were about to go do something else when the alarm went off. Damn alarm!

2. Does it hold any significant meaning to you?
I haven’t thought about it much. The dream did make a lingering impression on me. Maybe it has something to do with an unrealized desire… or the medication I was taking.

3. Do you dream in color or black and white?
Color, though I did have one dream in black and white, but that dream was basically about a film noir movie that I had recently seen.

4. What is the most frightening dream you ever had?
I can have some pretty scary dreams from the viewpoint of your average Joe. These dreams really don’t do a whole lot in the way of scaring me. I really can’t remember a dream that particularly scared me though I know I’ve had at least one that resulted in a bit of disorientation when I woke up.

5. Is there one dream that stays clear in your mind despite the fact it was more than a few years ago?
Yes. It was just one moment in the particular dream that has stuck with me for some thirty years, the scene was a delicate, female hand that was caressing my cheek and I put my hand over hers and I looked into the most beautiful, deepest blue eyes I have ever seen. I can still smell the soft powdery perfume she was wearing and the warm, loving feeling I had at that moment. I have searched all my life for that hand, those eyes, and that perfume to no avail.

Dream your Friday Five.

Steel spikes through my head

   Posted by: Yoggie    in Health

It seems that the ear infection (yes, I do get a lot of those) is hitting me particularly hard today so I will not be working today as it is very diffucult… uhm difficult to think with pain… pain shooting… shooting through my skull. Don’t worry, I was prescribed pain medication which makes me really happy and not real coherent and really, really sleepy.

I’ll be back later with… something I guess.

Really, really sleepy.
