My many apologies for not posting the last two days. I’ve sick and swamped. In fact, I’m still sick and swamped, but I think I can function now. Swamped, you ask? Yeah, I’ve this project that is kicking my arse at the moment, a project that involves modifying someone else’s code… code that was wrong to begin with but no one noticed that is was WRONG.
For you non-IT people, that is just ARGH! And it has all of this cryptic procedures that can only be accessed by knowing the header file (the program is in C++).
And trying to do while you are sick is even worse.
Yes, I could have stayed home and just worried my self into a coma, but I couldn’t let this slide since the deadline is pressing (it was like last week, but I could work on it last week because of server problems).
ARGH!
I did offer in the beginning to just write a simpler program that does the same thing in much simpler fashion with easier to modify code and some freakin’ comments. But we have to use what they (the vendor) gives us.
Yes, the life of a programmer is sure glamorous.

Hey Kids! What day is it!
Why, it’s Pat Benatar‘s birthday! She is a rockin’ 52 today. I just wished I looked that good.

Happy birthday Pat.
It is also the 38th birthday of the beautiful actress Trini Alvarado. You might remember her as Dr. Lucy Lynskey in The Frightners and as Teresa Perez in The Perez Family.

Happy Birthday Trini.

Take the quiz: “Which Random Irish Gaelic Phrase Are You? “

Is maith liom bananai
Is maith liom bananai – ‘I like bananas.’You’re laid-back and you enjoy the simple things in life. Some might say you’re a little too laid-back. Just what is it you’re smoking, anyway?
I pilfered this from Chrissy Daniel’s blog (warning: NSFW blog).. yes the redheaded model Chrissy (warning: another NSFW link).

Let’s get reading…
1. What is the first book you remember reading?
One of those Curious George eats the man in the yellow hat books.
2. What is your favorite book?
Ohh, that seems to change from week to week. I read a lot and have shelves of favorite books and I can’t pick just one.. or a hundred.
3. Who is your favorite author?
It is a toss up between Stephen King and F. Paul Wilson.
4. Pick up the nearest book (magazine or any available printed material will do). Turn to page 24 (or the closest to it). Go to the 7th line. What is it?
“to a clustered application server environment.” Not the spellbinding thriller you expected, eh bud?
5. If you could be any character in literature, who would you be?
Just one character huh. I guess Repairman Jack from the F. Paul Wilson books. He is so cool, collected, and secretive and manages to get thrown into the most unusual mystical situations.
Do your Friday Five.

Peaked your interest? Sorry no cats with horns on their heads.
No much going on except work today…. and there is plenty of that. I didn’t want to go home without saying something today so…
SOMETHING!
Yeah, that is how boring my life can be sometimes. Classes start soon and so the co-eds will be back on campus for me to gawk at. And with all the nice warm weather the co-eds will be in short skirts and shorts. Yipeee!

… that I need to get out more so that I can have some blog content. Oh well, I guess this will have to do.

Today is Nikki Nova‘s birthday. She is somewhere between 26 and 33 years old (sources vary and she ain’t tellin’… not even me, like her age even matters). This Cherokee, Italian, English, Irish, German and Scottish heritage native of Hampton, Virginia is one of the most sought after nude models/actresses today who does NOT do hardcore porn (sorry guys, but you can still fantasize). She is co-host of Night Calls 411 and an actress numerous campy-nudie movies (just ignore the bad sfx and script and watch her). If you are so inclined to such things, Nikki also has a Yahoo! group that she regularly drops in on.
And she is a nice person too.
And she has one heck of a pretty smile.

…or is it the first Friday Five of 2005 since it was posted on Sunday.
1. How often do you cook at home?
Two to six times a week. It depends on what we have going that day if we can eat a home cooked meal or grab something quick.
2. How did you learn how to cook?
By doing. My mother didn’t always have time to cook, so I picked up the ladle and started cooking. It wasn’t that hard to make an appetizing meal.
3. What is a meal that has special meaning to you?
A specific meal on a specific day? I would have to say the steaks I grilled for a girlfriend of mine when I was in college. It wasn’t so much as the meal but what happened later. After the meal she told me that she had to go to special Army training, but not to worry that she would be back before the fall term started. I received a letter a month after she left for training to tell me that she had found someone new.
4. What is the last meal you cooked?
I think it was Sunday. Something like Steak-Ums and stir fried veggies. It was quick and hit the spot.
5. What is your least favorite thing to cook?
Grilling steaks over charcoal. I hate it, thought the meat taste great it takes for-ever to cook. I’d rather use the gas grill, but everyone likes the charcoal taste.
Do your Friday Five.
