Political Gimme 5

Posted by: Yoggie    in Gimme 5

1. Are you interested in politics?
Not really. Actually I hate politics but I know I have to keep abreast of politics and news since that is part of my responsibilities as a citizen.

2. Why?
I should really read all the questions before answering. My “interest” is necessitated by the fact that I am a voting member of society.

3. What would you change if you’d be Bush?
First of all I wouldn’t be Bush, we differ on far too many things. Now if I were president I would try to fix Social Security without the idiot savings plan, get us out of Iraq and Afghanistan, aggressively push for alternate energy sources, work with other nations on our ecology problems, and work on making a more equitable life for all Americans.

4. In which politician could you identify yourself?
JFK. He had the vision and the will to work on making that vision come true regardless of even his political parties objections.

5. Where’s there a urgent action need in the world politics?
Finding alternate, clean energy sources and using them. It will not only help our economy and ecology, but that of the whole world, even those of the “Third World”.

Cloning Friday Five

Posted by: Yoggie    in Friday Five

1. How do you feel about the technology advancements of cloning people and animals?
I can see many good and bad things about it, but I lean toward the benefits of cloning. I don’t believe we should just start cloning people, but the technology can be used to clone replacement organs without cloning a person. Cloning animals have one benefit as you can create a tailored animal for a specific need.

2. If this technology became readily available to all, how do you think this will affect the future of our race?
We’d be in a world of hurt. I can see so much misuse from the average Joe in cloning lost love ones to making a fantasy playmate from some celebrities DNA.

3. If your much loved pet died and cloning was available, would you elect to have your pet cloned? What about family and friends?
I refuse to clone my pet or family members and I hope I am never presented with that choice. First of all, no matter how well the cloning is, the person or pet will still be different from the original… all they would share is the same DNA. The experiences, scars, etc would not be there.

4. Would your family have your consent to be cloned? Why or why not?
If they wanted to clone me, go right ahead. But remember, the clone will not be me.

5. If you had the authority to clone any person no longer alive, who would it be any why?
I wouldn’t clone anyone. As I said before, the clone would just share some DNA with the original, the two people would still be different. I guess it goes back to the quantum theory that observing an object changes that object, or in cloning, cloning that object changes that object. The two people will be distinct and have different souls.

The new Patriot Act, version 635.2, went into effect this morning at 3:34 am EST. Included in the act is the following….

  • All Republicans are required to carry loaded, concealed guns at all times. You never know when you are going to be attacked by a crazed butterfly.
  • However, all non-Republicans carrying weapons will immediately be arrested and charged with terrorism.
  • The President will henceforth be recognized as the messenger of God three times removed, unless a Democrat is elected president which will be considered an act of treason which will then require upteen recounts until they get the results “correct”.
  • Budgets for the holy crusades… err war against… in Iraq will be passed no matter how many pork barrel, un-democratic, and unconstitutional amendments are tacked on.
  • Nuclear will now be “nukuler”.
  • The official state sex position is now missionary… with the lights off… clothes on… with woman in submissive position. Anyone not having sex this way will be charged with sodomy… and treason.
  • Homosexuals do not exists, it is just a communist terrorist plot to undermine society.
  • Sex will no long be mentioned or shown on any movie screen or on any cable or satellite channel. That goes for an hint of nudity too.
  • We do whatever the big business and Christian far extremist right religious tell us, even if it means mass suicide via jumping off a cliff.
  • The U.S. military reserves the right to invade any country, including Canada and England, if the government suspect that there might be a rumor of them possibly helping terrorist… or Democrats.
  • All rights granted to the citizens of the United States are null and void unless you are Republican or big business or the religious right Christian.
  • Any mention of the Bush twins having a wild drinking binge and having wild perverted sex parties are banned from the media.
  • Blogs are hereby banned for they foster free speech.
  • Books with big words are banned.
  • History will be re-written to portray all non-Republicans as evil demons.
  • The nation’s capitol will be moved to Texas.
  • Unemployment figures will be recalculated to report a 150% employment.
  • Five billion dollars will be allocated to bring back the show “Dallas”.
  • NASA’s mission will be redefined to find a way to send all non-Republicans and everyone outside of the U.S. to the sun.

To be continued….

Childhood Revisited Friday Five

Posted by: Yoggie    in Friday Five

Memories of my childhood…

* What things did you enjoy as a child that you no longer do?
I used to enjoy getting up early which I dispise now, everything else is pretty much as enjoyable.

* What things did you enjoy as a child that you still do today?
Read. I’ve always loved to read.

* What things do you do now, that the child you were never thought you’d like?
Watch and play baseball and football. When i was a kid, sports wasn’t an option in my house. I always thought I’d just be the bookish type.

* If you could go back to one age and stay there for a while, what would it be?
About 25. I was at the pick of health, still had most of my hair, and I was about 30 lbs. lighter.

* If you could fast forward to an age (you do get to come back!) for a while, what would it be?
170. I’d like to see if I could exist while being that old.
