City Slickin’ Gimme 5

Posted by: Yoggie    in Gimme 5

1. Which big city is closest to your home?
Savannah, the port of coastal Georgia.

2. Are you sometimes going for shopping there?
Once in a long while. Though it is not that far from here, I can usually find what I need here at home.

3. From the country into the city, or from the city out to the country? Why?
I was born and raised in the country, but I have always been a city boy at heart… maybe because I had my fill of country livin’ when I was young. I like my life in the suburbs.

4. Where should your children grow up? Why?
Here in the suburbs where they are now because they are close to their school, not too far from any activities, close to emergency facilities, and they are surrounded by friends and playmates. You don’t know how lonely a life is when you grow up on a farm.

5. What is the advantage of a city, and a village?
In a city, everything is quickly available. In a village, there is the feeling of community and togetherness. Both have their good and bad points.

Music Friday Five

Posted by: Yoggie    in Friday Five

1) What was the first song you remember hearing and enjoying on the radio?
This will make me old, “Playground In My Mind” by Clint Holmes….

When this old world gets me down
And there’s no love to be found
I close my eyes and soon I find
I’m in a playground in my mind
Where the children laugh and the children play
And we sing a song all day

“My name is Michael, I got a nickel
I got a nickel, shiny and new
I’m gonna buy me all kinds of candy
That’s what I’m gonna do”

See the little children
Living in a world that I left behind
Happy little children
In the playround in my mind

Oh the wonders that I find
In the playground in my mind
In a world that used to be
Close your eyes and follow me
Where the children laugh and the children play
And we sing a song all day

“My girl is Cindy
When we get married, we’re gonna have a baby or two
We’re gonna let them visit their grandma
That’s what we’re gonna do”

“My name is Cindy
When we get married, were gonna have a baby or two
We’re gonna let them vist their grandma
That’s what we’re gonna do”

See the little children
See how they’re playing so happy
In the playround in my mind

Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba
La la la la la la la

2) If you could only listen to five CDs for a year, which five would they be? (Boxed sets can count as one CD. Sigh.)

  • Collected works of Mozart
  • Off The Deep End by “Weird Al” Yankovic
  • Master of Puppets by Metallica
  • Alien Invasion II
  • Collected Works of Beethoven

3) What was your favorite year, music-wise?
It would have to be 1982, just look at all the hits that year.

4) If you could witness one historical music event through all time, what would you pick, and why?
The birth of the universe. That would be so cool!

5) Do you have a song that never fails to cheer you up? What is it and why does it do that for you?
“I Lost On Jeopardy” by “Weird Al” Yankovic cause at least someone is lower on the scale of Jeopardy than I am.

Oh-oh-oh-oh

I was there to match my intellect on national tv
Against a plumber, oh, and an architect, both with a phd
I was tense, I was nervous, I guess it just wasn?t my night
Art fleming gave the answers
Oh, but I couldn?t get the questions right, -ight, -ight

I lost on jeopardy, baby (oooh)
I lost on jeopardy, baby (oooh)

Well, I knew I was in trouble now
My hope of winning sank
Oh, ?cause I got the daily double now
And then my mind went blank
I took potpourri for one hundred
And then my head started to spin
Well, I?m givin? up don pardo
Just tell me now what I didn?t win, yeah, yeah

I lost on jeopardy, baby (oooh)
I lost on jeopardy, baby (oooh)

That?s right, al–you lost. and let me tell you what you didn?t win: a twenty colume set of the encyclopedia international, a case of turtle wax, and a yeard?s supply of rice-a-roni, the san fra
O treat. but that?s not all. you also made yourself look like a jerk in front of millions of people. you brought shame and disgrace to your family name for generations to come. you don?t get to
Back tomorrow. you don?t even get a lousy copy of our home game. you?re a complete loser!

Don?t know what I was thinkin? of
I guess I just wasn?t too bright
Well, I sure hope I do better
Next weekend on the price is right, -ight, -ight

I lost on jeopardy, baby (oooh)
I lost on jeopardy, baby (oooh)
I lost on jeopardy, baby

Abroad Gimme 5

Posted by: Yoggie    in Gimme 5

1. Do you have friends abroad?
Yes, a few. One in particular is Janita.

2. If yes, which country is the farthest?
I think it is a toss up between Japan and Russia.

3. From where do you know him/her?
The lady from Japan and the lady from Russia went to the same university I did and we try to keep in touch. Janita I met online and I don’t talk to her near enough, sorry Janita.

4. Have you visited him/her in the past, or are you going to visit him/her?
I haven’t been outside the U.S. and it doesn’t look like I’ll be doing any traveling soon.

5. Could you imagine to live in this country?
From the descriptions people have given me, I guess I could do well and live comfortably in these countries… but it would have to be in a city.

Have you tried Gimme 5?

Writing Gimme 5

Posted by: Yoggie    in Gimme 5

1. With what are you writing, if you aren´t using your computer?
Pencil on paper, I usually don’t get away from my computer when I’m writing so I don’t have a lot of non-computer writing.

2. What do you like more – roller pen, ball pen or fountain pen?
I like the ball point pen, but I love to use calligraphy pens as it gives you a chance to be creative in your writing.

3. With what did you write at school?
Usually a mechanical pencil as it saves on buy pencils and I can always just reload the mechanical pencil when it runs out of lead.

4. How was your spelling at school – good, or did the teacher had to mark everything red?
I am one of the worst spellers you’d ever meet. I always had to consult (still do) a dictionary and thesaurus (and spell check is a life saver on the computer).

5. What are you writing by hand? Letters, invitations, others?
I usually don’t do much writing by hand, but I try to make letters and invitations by hand instead of typing them out in Word or WordPerfect (I’m still working on using Open Office).
