Gimme 5 for June 21, 2006

Posted by: Yoggie    in Gimme 5

1. Spam – how have you been affected by it?
I generally don’t open spam and so I usually don’t get infected or fall for phishers.

2. What could you do to prevent spam?
I have spam blocking and redirection in all of my email accounts. I also keep an anti-virus program and a firewall going.

3. Has your PC been infected by a Virus/Worm/Trojan?
Yes, once. no matter how hard you try you can still get infected.

4. If so, how did your PC became infected?
I was downloading a file from a trusted source that unknowingly had a virus. The virus was a simple one that had not been detected in the wild that only changed the home address in Internet Explorer. It seemed that I wasn’t the only one to be infected that way with that file.

5. Do you have a virus protection? If so, how often is this updated?
Yes, I check for updates daily.
