Middle of the week blues

   Posted by: Yoggie

It is Wednesday (the day named for Woden, or Odin for you other people) and I am still not feeling too good.  The world is still spinning on occasion (not the normal spinning, the personal spinning around moi) and I smell this unpleasant odor all the time, one I can only describe as brown-turquoise.

What?  You never associated odors with colors?

Also, I seem to have developed a bad case of dandruff, like suddenly, with a vengeance.

It never rains, just pours… which goes back to the rainy weather we have been having all week, well so far, and it looks as if it will keep up as well.

No time to post

   Posted by: Yoggie

I have no time to post anything of importance today (as if anything important really happened today) so you’ll have to get your kicks somewhere else today or wait until tomorrow.

If you still want something to look at, check out The Horror At 37,000 Feet on Veoh.com.

To boldly go

   Posted by: Yoggie

Star Trek is this weekend and so is Mother’s Day so take your mother to see Star Trek and then take her out to dinner.  a nice dinner, not Krystals.

I have so much to do this weekend that I am going to be exhausted Monday which means everything that can go wrong Monday will.

I found my old diary the other day (yes, I used to keep a paper and pen diary) and I’ve been reading some of the entries and I have come the the conclusion that I was morbidly depress while in college, so much so that I’m surprised I’m not in some cave somewhere living as a hermit with a twig as a pet. I probably should digitize the the diary for posterity as who knows what will happen to it next time.

Traditionally, we go out to a Tex-Mex restaurant for the 5th of May and celebrate with our friends who frequent the places and maybe debate the actual significance of the day… or as we usually do, talk about the latest movies.  That is normally we engage in such activities on this day, but not this time.  No, this time everyone was going to be busy today so we celebrated yesterday.

It just wasn’t the same.

No mariachi bands, no colorful flags and banners, no free flowing alcoholic beverages, just we have to hurry up and eat so we can get to our other endeavors.

Then today I eat Italian food all day… pizza, meatball sandwiches, etc… alone.

At least this weekend we are going to an IMAX theater showing of Star Trek and then we are dining in a fine Tex-Mex place so the week is not a total wash.

Another bad Monday

   Posted by: Yoggie

It seems my Mondays are just getting worse each week.  I came to work today and booted up my computer, or rather attempted to boot up my computer and it slowed to a stall.  It should not take a Pentium 4 running Windows XP on a Novell network 30 minutes to get from logon screen to the start of the desktop loading.  I know I have a relatively slow in current terms machine, but not that slow.  Plus some of the software I need for work is not running correctly.  I think it all has to do with the recent Java update, they always seem to screw up the system.

Plus every once in awhile my hard drive makes the “Oh crap, it is about to die” grinding noise.

I guess next Monday the building will fall down.

Songs is my dream world

   Posted by: Yoggie

I had the strangest dream the other night – I was dreaming about a song.  Not just any song, but a song that I composed in my dream along with an accompanying music video.  The words and lyrics in the first part of the song were sung by a mixed duo (male and female) with the words flowing perfectly with the music.  The first part of the song flowed seamlessly into “What’s Love Go To Do With It” by Tina Turner but the way she sung it completely changed the whole meaning of her song (it went from being cynical to affirming).  Now, I have never heard the first half of the song before and I thinking it was composed in my dreams.

Before you start saying that I just dreamed what was playing on the radio or TV, I did not have anything on that night.

See Dick go up

   Posted by: Yoggie

See Dick climb up the tree.

See Dick go up.

Up Dick, up!

See Jane climb tree.

See Jane go up.

Up Jane, up!

See picture of Jane climbing tree and she is wearing a dress and see Dick looking up Jane’s dress.  Now we know why Dick was up. Up Dick, up!

It is a wonder why we ever actually learned anything in grade school.

Monday a year older

   Posted by: Yoggie

Okay, I know I’m not really a whole year older than last Monday, just seven days.  It is the thought that I am now 46 and it is only four years from 50.  Things do seem to be as easy as they used to be.  It takes longer to get up the stairs, longer to mow the lawn, longer to do most anything.

Of course there is the senior citizen discounts to look forward.

Friday in the land of Oooooooz

   Posted by: Yoggie

It never fails that when you have a big time major project due on a rush schedule that everyone wants to talk to you.  I have been trying all week to get this project finished and into testing and all I can seem to do is go to meetings and help people on the phone.  Even when I’ve left the building and in a rush to pick up my family I get stopped to give my opinion/advice on a work matter.  If I did have such a busy schedule lately I wouldn’t even see or hear from anyone.  I have weeks when my schedule was a bit light and no one, and I mean absolutely no one, even peeks into my office.

People will probably stop by all weekend on work related issues because I plan on celebrating my birthday.  I already had a side of my family suddenly decide that this weekend would be a perfect time of a reunion!
