You bring me work NOW?

   Posted by: Yoggie

I am about to embark on a much needed and much saved up (as in days) holiday vacation, two and half weeks of holiday-away-from-work vacation Yeah, wooo-hoo me! Now I’ve been patiently waiting while cleaning kittens with my tongue for a project to get through testing. And I am still waiting. And yes, you are correct, they wanted it last year even though I received it two months ago. Again you are correct in your bet that the specs on the project have been in constant flux since day one. I am going on vacation starting Saturday and we are still testing…. and testing… and testing. You see, no one has ever done this type of program with any success before so I was flying by the seat of my pants the whole way (yes, someone did it once, but all they did was copy some code that had never seen the light of day before and no one had any idea exactly how it works – we do now). I am hoping that this testing gets done by this afternoon so I can get the programs into production with some time to spare in case something goes wrong with the putting of programs into production.

Did I mention that this set of programs will not even be used until sometime in the middle of January, or that it will be modified again right after that point?

Happy Independence Day 2009!

   Posted by: Yoggie

Don’t have much time to post as we are leaving for the celebration at a relative’s house.  Happy Fourth of July everyone!

And why couldn’t it rain this morning? I had to mow grass this morning just because it was not raining.  You could have just let it rain enough to make it difficult to mow so that I would have an excuse to go back to bed.

Happy Father’s Day 2009

   Posted by: Yoggie

I had all this I planned to say today about Father’s Day and about our relationship with our families but, like everything else I don’t jot down immediately, I’ve forgotten most of it and I am really tired from the party yesterday (that went into the wee hours of the morning).  Let me just wish the other fathers out there a Happy Father’s Day and remind them to spend at least some of the day with their families… you never know how long you will have them or how long you will be around to enjoy them.

Memorial Day 2009

   Posted by: Yoggie

It is finally Memorial Day which means my three day weekend is almost over.  This is what I accomplished so far…

  1. Got the fence up
  2. Fixed the food for the family having a funeral.
  3. Cleaned the bathrooms.
  4. Worked on other people’s websites (and still working on them).
  5. Fixed the lawn mowers.
  6. Mowed part of the lawn before another big storm hit.

What hasn’t been done yet…

  1. Reconfigure the home network.
  2. Finish mowing the grass (doesn’t look like that will happen today).
  3. Repair the pool (weather is not letting up so that will probably be off the table for today).
  4. Work on my websites (yeah, like I have time to do that).

I hope all of y’all are having a good and fun holiday.

Traditionally, we go out to a Tex-Mex restaurant for the 5th of May and celebrate with our friends who frequent the places and maybe debate the actual significance of the day… or as we usually do, talk about the latest movies.  That is normally we engage in such activities on this day, but not this time.  No, this time everyone was going to be busy today so we celebrated yesterday.

It just wasn’t the same.

No mariachi bands, no colorful flags and banners, no free flowing alcoholic beverages, just we have to hurry up and eat so we can get to our other endeavors.

Then today I eat Italian food all day… pizza, meatball sandwiches, etc… alone.

At least this weekend we are going to an IMAX theater showing of Star Trek and then we are dining in a fine Tex-Mex place so the week is not a total wash.

But it is Easter

   Posted by: Yoggie

Did you know that Lowe’s is open on Easter?  I know Wal-Mart is but I did not suspect Lowe’s would be.  I had to go back into town this morning (my mother-in-law was not answering her phone when my wife wanted to talk to her, her car is in the shop so she is stuck at home, it turned out she was out walking the dog and talking to the neighbors for two hours) and to make my trip worthwhile (she called back after I was almost at her house) I went to see if I could get some hardware to fix my closet shelves.  I was going to Wal-Mart when my wife suggested that the hardware would more likely be in Lowe’s.  Boy, did I get a surprise that they were open.

We had a good time at the Easter family gathering.  I guess everyone else had a good time, I fell asleep right after eating.  To my defense, I had been up early this morning after going to be late so I had almost no sleep.  The wife and kids wake me up hours later to go home. Yes, hours.  I get home and go right to fixing the shelves which to my astonishment took exactly as long as I told my wife it would.  And here I was expecting it to actually take a whole day. I need to go back to the Scotty school of engineering.

Thursday, why can’t you be Friday.

   Posted by: Yoggie

This week is trudging along.  The days seem short but they just take forever to get here.  I keep checking the calendar hoping that we can skip some day, but lo, that does not happen.

I really dread this weekend.  I was told today we would be going to my sister-in-law’s house… yes, the hot red head.  It is not that I don’t mind going, it is the fact that I will not be at home being lazy.  And I have to go buy all these grocery items for the family get-together. Yes, I was told this about 20 minutes ago after I’ve been asking for the whole week.  20 minutes ago was 10:30 PM! Talking about waiting until the last minute.  Of course I still have not been given the list of things I need to get, just that I will have to get some edibles.  Does anyone else have a spouse that is a bit slow in telling you things?
