Simpson’s sky

   Posted by: Yoggie

Just when I thought it was safe to get back in the water… uhm blogoshpere, things go south in both hardware and um I guess hardware.  I keep planning on doing some serious blogging and about the time I sit down something happens, whether it be really bad storm, connection problems, work overload, or just some project at home that needs to be done gets in the way.  I know, it only takes a few minutes to jot something down, why don’t you keep us informed on Twitter, your shoes are on fire… (?) I only have so many hours and minutes in a day and I already do not sleep enough.  I will do my best to get myself on-line more often and actually write something of substance.

Why the post’s title?  I was driving back to work (I had to get a replacement keyboard for my wife) and I looked up in the sky and it looked just like the sky on The Simpsons.  I took pictures but I don’t have any way at present to get them off my phone.

Why yes, I did drop off the Earth

   Posted by: Yoggie

I dropped off the Earth, floated around Jupiter for awhile, and then ended up stranded on Pluto until a Vogon Constructor ship ran into the planet and I fell into one of the open cargo holds.

Yes, it has been over a month since I last posted… and I had all of these ideas for articles full of wit and insight, too. Unfortunately, I have been very busy the past month with work and home life and my computer was also having a bad time of it. Hopefully, I will be back on track to post everyday (and there goes what is left of my readership out the door) with some real content…. yeah, and pigs fly on golden CD players.

I really don’t know where the time went.  Everyday I would get to work and it would be rush rush rush fix a problem in a hurry and then it would be time to go home where it is rush rush rush do my chores, fix dinner, we have to go somewhere it is someone’s birthday/anniversary/first poop.  I have projects backed up that I have promised people I would get to, though I did get one major home project done – renovating the closet in the study/office of my house.  Now I have sturdy shelves that are adjustable and will not fall down from the weight of the coats and jackets hanging.  The next home project is to do the same with my bedroom closet.

Empty tank warning light is flashing

   Posted by: Yoggie

You that dark mood I talked about a few days ago?  Well, it is still here.  I can’t seem to shake it and it have been with me for a few weeks now.  Yeah, every once in awhile a bright spot will come along and make the day worthwhile, but the down and out feeling just keeps creeping back in after the light moves on.  Like i said before, and if you remember this dark mood happens from time to time (read my blog if you don’t remember), I will get in a moody, dark funk.  But this one worries me, I’ve never been this down before… well, I take that back, when the love of my life in college just up and walked out of my life I seem to remember I was pretty bad mood for weeks and my best friend put me on her “suicide watch”, like I’d actually kill myself – too much of a coward for that.  My best friend was worried more that I was going to do something stupid like have sex with a prostitute and then marry the prostitute in a fit of misguided passion.

What do you do to get out of a funk?

Dark moods

   Posted by: Yoggie

Boy have I been in a dark mood lately.  I’ve gotten into this funk that I can’t seem to get out of no matter how I try.  I don’t know what exactly brought it on, though I have an idea about a few things that might have caused it (before you make assumptions, it is not due to a person).  I’ve always been a bit broody and dark, but not usually that much so.  It makes emo look like a bright sunny outlook.  I’ve tried to cheer myself up, but it just ain’t happening, though I have had a few bright spots (and you know who you are pretty smile).

Don’t worry, I’ll get out of it eventually.

My birthday, 2009

   Posted by: Yoggie

Thank you all for the wishes of Happy Birthday.  My birthday turned out okay if a bit mundane, but that is the way I like it.  I’m not one for parties or fancy gifts… just family and friends and a good meal with some good times.

Though I must remember not to go to restaurants that celebrates birthdays on my birthday. It is fine to humiliate others, just not myself….. actually it was kinda fun.

Oops! Can we have a redo?

   Posted by: Yoggie

It seems that the swearing in wasn’t quite up to snuff yesterday as Obama had to be sworn in again today.  Yeah, I noticed that the justice had flubbed the oath and got Obama a bit flustered when he tried to say the oath correctly.

To those how are concerned, yes, my wife is doing better.  She is still in pan, but not near as much as yesterday.  I did the noble thing and stay with her again today (after taking the kids to school and quelling a minor rebellion at work).  Thank you for the concerned emails and well-wishing.

What a day #20456

   Posted by: Yoggie

I am exhausted and the day isn’t even over.  I had to take my wife to the emergency room this morning because she fell and sprained her ankle.  Luckily, it wasn’t a life threatening problem as it took them two hours to see her.  Okay, you are saying that they were just swamped with more pressing emergency. Nope, I would have understood that, but there were no other patients.  No one in the emergency room. No one had been in the emergency room for over 10 hours.  No one had been admitted in 26 hours.  This had to be the slowest day at any hospital on the planet.  I mean I would expect maybe a woman in labor, some accident victim, sick child, or something, but the place was dead.  Even the nurse commented how dead it was.

But it still took two hours just to admit my wife, and we have insurance so that wasn’t a reason for delay.

You mean it is not still Christmas?

   Posted by: Yoggie

Don’t you just hate those people who leave their Christmas decorations up way past Christmas and New Year’s Day. It is understandable that you leave them up until the weekend of/after Epiphany (January 6 or January 19 depending on calendar, church, or who you ask) as some families have that as the traditional end of the holiday season.  With my parents (as with most families in my childhood-years geographical location), we took down Christmas decorations the weekend after Christmas (they went up the weekend before) which was a sign that Christmas vacation was almost over.  Yeah, when I was a kid, Christmas school vacation started the day before Christmas eve and we had to report back to school on weekday closest to January 2.

The tradition with my family is to keep decorations up until Epiphany which my wife has set as January 6.  The date must be a local tradition as I had never even heard of Epiphany before I met my wife.  All this means is that I get my ass up early on the weekend after January 6 and take down the decorations… by my lonesome… as in everyone else is sleeping late… and I have my own system of re-packing decorations.

And you are saying, what the hell does that have to do with anything?  Well, Mr. Smartypants, it mean that just now finished taking down and packing the decorations.  Yes, the weekend after the weekend after January 6, a new record for leaving decorations up. Next year I am going for broke and waiting until the weekend after the Superbowl to take them down.

When Bloggin’ Hurts

   Posted by: Yoggie

I sure *ouch* pick a good *ouch* time to start *cringe-pain* to blog. I did something to my right *pause due to pain* hand, somewhere under my thumb in my palm, *hurt* and it is coming in waves of pain… not sever pain, but *shooting pain* kinda like someone beat my hand with a baseball bat and it bruised my palm. If I sit still (like I have time for that) the pain goes away for a little while. I guess I did *pain all the way up my arm* something bad when I installed the doggie door this weekend. You see, I had to use this big ass electric hand jig saw kinda like this one  because my *ouch shoulder jigsaw smalltwinge* smaller one would not hold the blade. I couldn’t take the door off and I had to cut the opening while the door was still vertical.  You imagine  this heavy, super-vibrating piece of stubborn equipment trying to cut through a fire door while you are in an awkward sitting position *please kick in soon pain pills* by yourself.  Well, I shouldn’t say by myself as I had help from very inquisitive kittens that were anxious to use the doggie door.  After installing the door, caulking the edges (we don’t want the elements to get in around the door do we), and cleaning up, we had our doggie door that the dog refused to use.  It was only after we declined to let the dog out the traditional way that the dog used the doggie door to go out and bark at our neighbors.  Now all I have to do is put the the fence around the back door and we can leave the dog at home during the day instead of with a sitter.

Must remember to close the doggie door when I get home so the blasted dog doesn’t get out and chase the neighbors.

*MORPHINE!  I NEED MORPHINE HERE!*
