Server move
The hosting company is moving to a new server today so the site may be up and down all day. We’ll see how it goes.
I recently changed the password to my Twitter account and now my Tweets are not showing up on my blog even after I changed the password in Twitter Tools. I will be working on fixing this problem and installing the latest WordPress upgrade. Wish me luck.

Well, if things worked out okay then this post should go live with the announcement of my install of version 2.8.5 of WordPress is successful. If not then you can’t read this and know that I am pantless.
Just when I thought it was safe to get back in the water… uhm blogoshpere, things go south in both hardware and um I guess hardware. I keep planning on doing some serious blogging and about the time I sit down something happens, whether it be really bad storm, connection problems, work overload, or just some project at home that needs to be done gets in the way. I know, it only takes a few minutes to jot something down, why don’t you keep us informed on Twitter, your shoes are on fire… (?) I only have so many hours and minutes in a day and I already do not sleep enough. I will do my best to get myself on-line more often and actually write something of substance.
Why the post’s title? I was driving back to work (I had to get a replacement keyboard for my wife) and I looked up in the sky and it looked just like the sky on The Simpsons. I took pictures but I don’t have any way at present to get them off my phone.
Upgraded to WordPress version 2.8 and checking to see if everything is working.
Seems to be so.
Another upgrade on WordPress that didn’t go smoothly. We are up to version 2.7.1 now.
For those of you (and you two know who you are) that came by the site and found a parking page, my current domain name registrant decided to discontinue my contract without letting me know. You see, the domain name was 2 days overdue, a fact that I would have rectified weeks ago if the company had just notified me that the name was up for renewal.
Yes, it was six years ago today that I started to officially post on my own blog ,called back then “A Lackluster Blog” (though I was bloggin for a few months before on a community blog and pre-blogging* before that). A lot has changed over the years… different blogging software, different host, and a reduction in postings.
So happy 2009 and here’s to a new year of blogging.
*pre-blogging – before there was actual blogging software like WordPress, Movable Type, and Expression Engine, weblogs consisted of daily, weekly, monthly, etc. updates on the web page writen in HTML and the revised page uploaded to the server.
WordPress 2.7 is here. Another seamless upgrade with no fanfare. The new WordPress is a bit different especially in the dashboard and it takes a bit getting used to.
On a similar note, if you haven’t applied the latest patch to Internet Explorer, do so ASAP. There is a serious flaw in the browser that allows (and has been reportedly already allowed on many computers) for an attacker to gain access to your computer. The patch was made available today.
We are now up to version 2.6.5 of WordPress with 2.7 looming on the horizon. The automatic upgrade function is not working on my blog (a specific PHP function is disable by my host) so it was back to the old brute force updating of copying all the files.
