New President

   Posted by: Yoggie

Barack H. Obama is now our 44th president.  I was watching on CNN.com and using the Facebook interface to keep up with friends who watch of television.  I have to say that the speech was inspiring, something along the lines I would have expected JFK to make had he been elected today.

The President has a long, hard road ahead of him.

Did anyone notice how quiet it was when ‘W’ came out as opposed to the fan-fair that greeted Obama?

And I could swear that the justice of the peace swearing in Obama had the oath of office wrong, though Obama said them in the correct order.  I’ll have to check the recording on my TV.

New picture place and some anxiety

   Posted by: Yoggie

If you noticed in the Friday Five post earlier that I am using a new picture source website called Picapp.  Picapp is a site that host stock photos that you can use free of charge on website and such and not have to worry about copyright and legal hassles you get from most picture repositories.  Instead of downloading and putting the pictures on your website, you link to their site with a script that displays the picture on your site.  There are restrictions, but most have to deal with no copying the pictures nor modifying them.  I have at present had no problems with the site being down or the pictures not rendering, but I’m still putting it on a trial basis.

Now most of you know that I am looking into buying a house.  Well with the problems with mortgages and such I am a bit apprehensive about getting that deep into debt.  I am supposed to hear back soon about a mortgage application.  Cross your fingers.

Monetary Friday Five

   Posted by: Yoggie

1. How much money is in your wallet right now?
I think about eleven bucks. Why? Are you looking for a loan?

2. How much money would you need in the bank to feel secure? Rich?
At least $10,000 to be secure and 10 BILLION dollars to be rich. Those sharks with the freakin’ lasers are expensive.

3. If someone gave you $100, no strings attached, what would you do with it?
Look up in the sky to make sure that a planet sized comet is not hurtling toward us. After I’m sure that everything is okay, I’d go buy some new shoes for the family…. or fill the car with gas, can’t do both.

4. If someone gave you $1 Million, no strings attached, what would you do with it?
Get out of dept completely, set up a couple of college funds for my kids, buy a new car, and put any that’s left in a savings account.

5. How much does something have to cost before it starts counting as “real” money, as a purchase to be considered and evaluated, but below which you’ll buy without really thinking about it?
$1. I am really a tight wad.

Join the Friday Five fray.

Toys Friday Five

   Posted by: Yoggie

Toys!

1) What was your favorite toy as a child?
My G.I. Joe. I played soldier, diver, warrior, and Superman with him.

2) What is your favorite toy now that you’re “grown up”?
Computer. I like playing on the computer.

3) What is the most dangerous toy you had growing up?
Those evil lawn darts. I was lucky no one was killed by those things.

4) What is the most dangerous toy you have now?
My car. It is possessed by and evil spirit you see.

5) What one toy do you wish you had/have?
I wish I had Transformers when I was a kid. I would have hours of enjoyment with changing them, but I was born too early. Transformers didn’t come out until I was in my late teens…. very late teens. But I do have a few now.

Play with your Friday Five.

Take the quiz: “Which Random Irish Gaelic Phrase Are You? “

Is maith liom bananai
Is maith liom bananai – ‘I like bananas.’You’re laid-back and you enjoy the simple things in life. Some might say you’re a little too laid-back. Just what is it you’re smoking, anyway?

I pilfered this from Chrissy Daniel’s blog (warning: NSFW blog).. yes the redheaded model Chrissy (warning: another NSFW link).

Friday Five child

   Posted by: Yoggie

Yes, i know I’m late. I’ve been behind on everything this month.

When you were a child…

1. what did you want to be when you grew up and why?
An artist and a writer. I wanted to paint like DaVinci and write like Issac Asimov. Unfortunately when I got older I realized that I enjoyed eating and sleeping in a bed so I decided to find a more steady occupation.

2. who was your favorite person to do things with (excluding your parents)?
Myself. I was a real loner back when I was a kid. I played by myself, talked to myself, played with myself…. uhm, you didn’t read that.

3. did you love school or did you hate it? Why? Did that change as you got older?
I always like school, I just didn’t like all the people with whom I went to school. I always found school as an escape from real life, a time when I didn’t have to worry about anything just learning. It hasn’t changed much since I got older, I just don’t use school as an escape any more.

4. was your family close? What were your favorite family traditions?
I was never close to my family. I always felt like an outsider no matter who I was with me. I’m not even close to my sister or my brother.

5. did you think that being an adult would be cool?
Cool? Not so much as being able to make my own decisions. I realized early in my life that the little frills of being older came with a lot of responsibility and hard work.

And if you are wondering, no, I did not have a happy childhood.

Do your Friday Five.

Mikey’s back

   Posted by: Yoggie

Mikey is back from that conference. I talked to him yesterday and he was exhaused but doing O.K. He should be back on the computer sometime today. He has to re-arrange his office this morning and hook all his stuff back up after his office was re-furbished or something while he was away.

He looked so tired yesterday.

I going to go see if he needs any help with his office.

It was nice to speak with you wonderful people again and keep the emails coming at lyndired at hotmail dot com.

Hugs and kisses to everyone.

- Lyndi
