We had a bad storm last night which knocked out my DSL, phones, one of my satellite receivers, and a few of the electrical appliances in the house. I saw the flash and heard/felt the thunder. The strike had to be close by and it must have struck the ground. All of the ground base services are out but the power was unaffected (though it did blow out a TV). I’ll probably be very spotty at updating for the next week.
How am I updating now? My daughter force me to take her someplace with internet access.

Autumn is finally here in all of its glory and its really cold winds are on the way. We have been having flooding in the north of the state as I am sure you know from the news, and the water is on its way down south. I feel for the people in north Georgia and know what they are going through as we in the south coastal area had similar flooding earlier this year. One good thing about all this rain is that the water table will be back up close to normal and the draught that has been plaguing the state looks to end.
Want more good news Georgia? We are expected to have a really, really cold wet winter with some places having unheard of snowfall. I can image trying to go to work and passing over the five bridges between my house and my job, all of which ice over in the winter with little provocation.
Now for the list of things to do this Autumn to prepare for winter:
- cut and split firewood
- clean fireplace
- trim the weeds around the house and the wood
- cut and split more firewood
- winterize the car
- cut and split firewood (I have a lot of wood to cut and split)
- get out the winter clothes
- run around naked outside for the last time this year
- freak out my neighbors when they see me running around naked
- give my neighbors anti-nausea medicine for seeing me run around naked
- make more lists
- cut yet more firewood

You only have a few hours of Summer left (at the time of writing you have 7 hours and 59 minutes left) so enjoy what there is of it before the spectre of Autumn comes rolling around about 5:18 PM local time.
Autumn is my favorite time of the year and the weather currently is reflecting the change of the seasons.

I laughed at the gods of weather today and openly defied the obvious signs of heavy rain and went back to town this afternoon (my wife neglected to me her half of the shopping list), mocking the heavy dark clouds and the winds. “Blow winds with all your might,” I said. “Dark clouds, make the day a black as pitch with your blocking of the sun’s rays,” I bellowed, laughing hysterically and getting really strange looks from passers-by. “You will not fool me again, you hussy of weather!”
My daughter and I got to town with the clouds getting darker and small drops of water falling gently. “Is that all you got,” I mocked. While inside we could hear the rain pounding on the roof of the building. The parking lot was drenched in water, yet the rain had ended. “Missed me, missed me, nana-a-booboo,” I taunted.
A little splattering of rain hit my car, I was not impressed. I went out to get some fast food before heading home. This little sprinkle is nothing, a pittance.
On our way home, the road disappears in a white sheet of water. For twenty miles the visibility is about ten feet. I pull close to the door when we get home so my daughter will not get too wet. I unloaded the car with buckets of water pouring on me by the second. I am a walking wet towel by the time everything is in the house.
Then the rain stops and hasn’t rained since.

It was my understanding that it was going to rain all day today, and rain hard. Okay, where was the rain. I say a little bit of it this morning on my way to town, but nothing since then. I put off mowing the lawn (even though the grass was soaking with the rain from last night) and went shopping a day early just because I was expecting a torrential downpour. The one time I actually plan my day around the weather and it comes for naught. I puttered around in the house all day with the sun shining at me mockingly.

What is with the weather on the East Coast of the U.S. this week? We have been having record low temperatures lately. This is usually the time when the temperature gets its highest. This afternoon I actually saw leaves falling out of trees! Tonight Atlanta is expected to have temperatures in the low 60’s and we are supposed to get down in the mid-60’s. I’m not complaining about the cool weather but I am concerned that this maybe either a sign of some really hot weather on the close of summer or a really, really cold winter.

It is finally Memorial Day which means my three day weekend is almost over. This is what I accomplished so far…
- Got the fence up
- Fixed the food for the family having a funeral.
- Cleaned the bathrooms.
- Worked on other people’s websites (and still working on them).
- Fixed the lawn mowers.
- Mowed part of the lawn before another big storm hit.
What hasn’t been done yet…
- Reconfigure the home network.
- Finish mowing the grass (doesn’t look like that will happen today).
- Repair the pool (weather is not letting up so that will probably be off the table for today).
- Work on my websites (yeah, like I have time to do that).
I hope all of y’all are having a good and fun holiday.

I managed to get back out there and work on the fence this morning (yes, I know it is Sunday) and yes, the holes were full of water. Made it interesting to splash posts into the holes and have water fly into my face. I looked like an actor in blackface after I finished with the post. Here I was thinking I could get the wire fencing up before the storm hits when the deluge begins. Just like yesterday, big heavy drops for hours. Hey, I don’t have to worry about miniature wells this time.
Update: Manage to get back outside after the rain and made an attempt to get some of the fencing up.

After all the flooding we had over the past two weeks, it goes and rains yet again…. a big ol’ storm with lots of water Monday and the rivers went back up to flood stage if for only a few hours.
I will be out of town Thursday and I’ll be going to the Brave’s game as a chaperone for my daughter’s class which means no texting, no IM’s, no computer access all day. Being a computer/Internet junkie this going to be difficult. So if you don’t see me on the IM you’ll know were I’ll be… either on the road with a bunch of bored teenagers or at a baseball game with a bunch of bored teenagers. I am really looking forward to that 6 hour round trip.

You are freakin’ kidding me. The low is going to be in the 30′s (°F)! In April no less.
I’m guess we will be going to someone’s house for Easter as my wife has not informed me of what our plans will be. I am always the last to know and the first person to have to get something to take with us, though I am usually told about this at the last possible moment.
I guess y’all other married men have never had that happen.
