Basic space burp

   Posted by: Yoggie

It is list daaaaaaayyyyyyyy!!!!!  (Yes, I just made it up.)

  • Sometimes I wonder just who is deciding what will be on the news.  Is there some supercomputer sitting in a frozen warehouse crunching up numbers, statistics, and probabilities or is it some guy with a dart board and too many martinis.
  • Why when you see one ant on you that you suddenly feel like there are thousands of ants on you when you know there isn’t?  Do ants have some sort of mind control that they used to protect themselves from giants like us that convinces us that we are wearing ant coats?
  • When it gets dusty in space (and it does so quite often) do you use a vacuum cleaner?
  • Who decided that yellow paint on the curb would mean no parking?  Why not orange or pink? Was the paint store having a sell on yellow paint that day?
  • Why is the glass half full or half empty and not the glass being too tall?
  • Why in Star Trek: The Next Generation does no one listen to heavy metal?  What happened to the punk rockers and the spiked hair?  I mean, the most contemporary music we hear is jazz played by Riker.
  • Another thing about Star Trek, why has no one thought to transport (through the transporter no less) a bomb into the enemy’s engine room.  My strategy would be to weaken a part of the shields enough to transport a photon torpedo near a power conduit or inside the engine.  One boom and the ship is either destroyed or incapacitated. (That bothered me the whole Kazon story line during Voyager when the Kazon supposedly did not have strong shielding technology.)
  • What possesses me to come up with these lists?  Why does possesses have so many s’s?

Empty tank warning light is flashing

   Posted by: Yoggie

You that dark mood I talked about a few days ago?  Well, it is still here.  I can’t seem to shake it and it have been with me for a few weeks now.  Yeah, every once in awhile a bright spot will come along and make the day worthwhile, but the down and out feeling just keeps creeping back in after the light moves on.  Like i said before, and if you remember this dark mood happens from time to time (read my blog if you don’t remember), I will get in a moody, dark funk.  But this one worries me, I’ve never been this down before… well, I take that back, when the love of my life in college just up and walked out of my life I seem to remember I was pretty bad mood for weeks and my best friend put me on her “suicide watch”, like I’d actually kill myself – too much of a coward for that.  My best friend was worried more that I was going to do something stupid like have sex with a prostitute and then marry the prostitute in a fit of misguided passion.

What do you do to get out of a funk?

Dark moods

   Posted by: Yoggie

Boy have I been in a dark mood lately.  I’ve gotten into this funk that I can’t seem to get out of no matter how I try.  I don’t know what exactly brought it on, though I have an idea about a few things that might have caused it (before you make assumptions, it is not due to a person).  I’ve always been a bit broody and dark, but not usually that much so.  It makes emo look like a bright sunny outlook.  I’ve tried to cheer myself up, but it just ain’t happening, though I have had a few bright spots (and you know who you are pretty smile).

Don’t worry, I’ll get out of it eventually.

No Friday Five this week

   Posted by: Yoggie

There is no Friday Five so far this week and I was actually on time for once.  Normally the Friday Five is up by now so I‘m guessing it is really late or we are not having one this week.

Yes, I did get to sleep late today, later that I usually do.  Late as in 9 AM late.  I’ve never been one that could sleep until the afternoon.

Got some grocery shopping done and boy was it a big bill.  I’m gonna have to put the cats and dogs on a diet, that stuff is getting expensive.

I have a bunch I people on IM that are dying to speak to me, one that is having problems with her website and wants me to fix it for her (yes, she batted those beautiful eyes at me again and I became her slave IT person).

Sleep perchance to rest

   Posted by: Yoggie

I actually feel a little more rested today that I did not get to bed as early as I planned.  Work was the same-old-same-old with the exception that we found out in a meeting that yet another person is leaving the team.  With budget cuts and such with the state, we can’t fill the position until a month after the person leaves meaning that not only will that knowledge not be passed from the person leaving to the new person but that we will be yet more understaffed than before.  And I see no blue skies in the near future.  At this rate I’ll be the only one left by the end of the year. No one wants to get a job with the state with all of the financial woes because you never know if you’ll even be getting a paycheck next month.  And he IT people we need are in the sector of the employment picture that has one of the lowest unemployment rates and one of the shortest waits between jobs.   Recessions his state agencies hard.

Too old for young experiences

   Posted by: Yoggie

I am still suffering from the lack of sleep from Tuesday night (or rather Wednesday morning) and to top it all off I have a sinus headache too.

What happened today, was it better than Monday the 13th? Some of it was better, some was worse.  Sometimes you just can’t please customers.  And don’t even ask them to test program mods, they get all whiney sometimes.  You hear this all the time from IT people and it is true.  I had someone over to help with the repairs on my PC after the Monday fiasco and was sorely tempted to be a whiney customer.

I’ll be glad when the weekend gets here so I can rest.

Monday the 13th strikes again

   Posted by: Yoggie

What a crap-static this day has been.  Let us go to the list feature of the site..

  • First I get up late.  This is not normally a problem, but my daughter start a new school term today.
  • I forgot to go to the grocery store this weekend, so my daughter will not have a likable lunch.
  • My daughter left all of her books and papers at my mother-in-law’s house so we have to rush to get there.
  • My daughter left her copy of he schedule at home thinking that the other copy is in our car.  I took it out on Friday so I could make a copy of it.
  • Called the school to apologize for my daughter not having her schedule and not getting anyone.
  • I haven’t even gotten to work yet.
  • Yep, late for work to find that NO ONE IS THERE!
  • Log on to the network to find the network is down.
  • Network is back up, but my computer froze and refused to even hard boot. Had to unplug the sucker.
  • Need I continue?  Okay, all the networks being down mean nothing was updated.  Luckily, we have an update that was run since important data changed.
  • The database environment I need to work in is down because the backup was corrupted.
  • Finally, after lunch I can get to work.  Finally got in touch with a person and not an answering machine to verify everything is okay at my daughter’s school.
  • Went to get gas and there is no money on the gas card.

I finally just gave up the day as a loss when I got home.

Sunday is movie day

   Posted by: Yoggie

After working my butt off yesterday and have a pretty lousy week, I decide that today was me day.  A day I could relax, unwind, and do what I want.  Yeah, like that is gonna happen.  I did manage to get in a few movies today, none of them worth the actual time it took to watch them (hear that Sci-Fi).  I really should have just popped in some of my old horror movies or some of the J-horror I have, but I was too lazy to actually pick some out, so I guess my disappointment with today’s offerings should be place squarely on myself.

Did you know school is just around the corner?  Time to start terrorizing your kids with the knowledge that summer break is almost over.

Saturday accomplished

   Posted by: Yoggie

For once I manage to get the entire yard mowed! I started out early this morning and just kept on going until it was finished.  I was afraid it was going to ran this afternoon so I went full force in mowing.  So far it seems that the storms are not going to show up as planned.

After getting some rest (even though I use a riding mower now, it still takes a lot out of me), I am now back online and looking for trouble… not that I am actually looking for trouble.

How has your day gone?

Updates for my reader person July 9, 2009

   Posted by: Yoggie

Since someone was crazy enough to ask me what is going on, here it is…

  • Screenplay – people are interested, but I still do not have it polished yet.
  • Novel – I keep writing long stretches of character development with no action and it is boring even me and it is supposed to be a  horror story.
  • Sketches – since I don’t have a scanner compatible with my computer, I haven’t scan any in which makes the web comic I was working on as well as my other sketches in limbo. Yes, I know I don’t need a scanner to sketch, but I would like get what I have digitized.
  • Cross-stitch projects – when do I have the time.  Luckily no one is requesting any at the moment.
  • Continuing education – on hiatus until the economy gets better and I can afford he transportation and books again.
  • Work – yes, I still work 8 to 5 everyday and I just never seem to have any time to myself.

Now you are up to date.
