Back at work

   Posted by: Yoggie

I’ve been sick with a stomach virus the past few days and haven’t been at work.  Got in today to a load of stuff piled up from last week’s day off and the two days I was gone at the beginning of this week. Sometimes I don’t think it is worth staying home sick when you have to catch up when you get back.

Nothing much is going on with me lately.  The world is a different matter with the Michael Jackson memorial, more celeb deaths, a South Carolina serial killer, and a crackdown in China to name a few items of interest.  The world is never boring but I can’t say the same about my own back yard… unless you like to watch birds.  Birds we have plenty and in different varieties.  It is difficult to keep the bird feeders filled.

Yeah, now you tell me there was alcohol.

How thick can I be.  I mean I heard the blender going and could smell the fruit juices but it never occurred to me that alcoholic beverages were being served last night.  Heck, I wasn’t driving so I could drink.  No, what do I do?  I sit and watch some kid friendly movie thinking the kids will be wanting to watch a movie.  Yeah, they were watching a movie… in another room.  Come on, I would have watched “Twilight” if I had known alcohol was actually being served.

On the topic of “Twilight”, I met a young lady that actually likes the books and the movie.  Well, younger than I am.  She is actually in her early… well, she has been out of college a few years now.  I guess not everyone bought the books to see how bad they reportedly are.

Happy Independence Day 2009!

   Posted by: Yoggie

Don’t have much time to post as we are leaving for the celebration at a relative’s house.  Happy Fourth of July everyone!

And why couldn’t it rain this morning? I had to mow grass this morning just because it was not raining.  You could have just let it rain enough to make it difficult to mow so that I would have an excuse to go back to bed.

Off from work early!

   Posted by: Yoggie

It seems the state wanted to save an hours worth of electricity today so we were allowed to leave early from work which meant all three of us still at work (everyone else took the day off) had to leave. I shouldn’t say had to leave as much as we made a mad dash for the door in case the powers-that-be decided to change their minds.

Actually I came in early this morning just so I could get everything done today in hopes that we would be released early.  Boy would I had been embarrassed if we did not get the release.

Sounds like we are a bunch of lunatics in an asylum being released onto an unsuspecting and unprepared public. Mwhahahahaha!

Day 183, 2009

   Posted by: Yoggie

So now we have gotten half way through the year.

Today is Thursday isn’t it. Again I had this post all written in my head and at 6:30 in the evening it all just went poof.  I guess I should START WRITING STUFF DOWN. Maybe I can even use that pocket notepad I bought if I can find it.

I have no idea what we will be doing on the 4th.  There was once a plan to spend the day with a sister-in-law and riff the movie “Twilight” (I sparkle) but I heard that now it will be a satirical reading of the first “novel” then some fireworks.  I’m not sure how much marble skin and breathing I can handle in one day. I’m not knocking the author or the millions of fans cause I am just as bad about liking crappy, but popular, fiction as everyone else, I just can’t see the appeal of the series from what I have read about the books.  I guess I’ll have to get a copy of the books to see for myself and make the author more money.

Second half of 2009

   Posted by: Yoggie

Happy second half of 2009!  Can you believe that the year is half over?  I’m not sure that it is actually halfway of the year… it is the 182nd day of the year… 365 – 182 is 183 so I guess noon was actually the half way point of the year. Let me see, there was something happening today… uhm, oh yeah, Canada Day.  So Happy Canada Day for our friends up in The Great White North!

So what have I done with the first half of the year?  Well, I can honestly say I’ve gotten even further in debt and that is about it.  Maybe the second half will be better.

What did you accomplish in the first half?

Where did the weekend go June 28, 2009?

   Posted by: Yoggie

This weekend ended way too early.  Last night after the party for two, we went to bed and promptly feel asleep.  Even without the alcohol we were both dead tired from running around, dinner, get chores done before dinner, and sending the kids off.  We both ended up sleeping very late and most of the morning was gone before we got around to getting ready to pick up the kids.  We decided to get a lunch for two before the getting the kids and what do we find… the U.S. soccer (futbol for those of you outside the U.S.) team made it to the finals!  I tried to look in on our various soccer teams, both pro and non, but this surprised me.  I had forgotten that the games were going on this week. Unfortunately the U.S. team lost but only after scoring twice before the Brazil team did (U.S. even drew first blood).

The rest of the day after picking up the children and hear them complain that they had a terrible time (I know better), I went back to doing chores outside.  Now that I have practically painted the house in bug spray like I did last year, I am hoping our bug problems will soon be solved (they would be solved sooner if the kids would clean up their rooms).

Yes, I live the life exciting.

I’m a bit tipsy, he he he.

   Posted by: Yoggie

I’ve done something tonight I haven’t done in a long while.  No, not run around naked making people scream, I do that on a regular basis.  No, we decided that the two adults in the house might imbibe a bit in the spirits tonight.  Yes, imagine me going out to buy hard liquor.  The last time I bought anything with more alcohol than beer of wine coolers was back in my college days.  The scene at the store with me trying to remember just what I needed was a classic in befuddled conversation. The wife convinced me to fix her a concoction that she swears that I fixed her when we were dating.  I don’t remember trying to get her drunk (though I have seen her a bit tipsy and it doesn’t take much).  I on the other hand seem to still be able to drink people under the table.  All I feel is a little more happy than I usually am and that is after a half a liter of vodka.

We’ll see how I feel in the morning.

Friday is here, but where am I?

   Posted by: Yoggie

This is shaping up to be one of those weekends you plan to have a romantic interlude and everything works out exactly the opposite.  It is going to be hot and muggy this weekend so there will be no fun in the sun.  Uhm, no not that kind of fun – I do have neighbors with children.  No, I was talking about all sweaty and manly smelling but not manly smelling to the point of “ewwwwwwww, you stink” which is what will happen if it doesn’t get below 100°.  Next the kids do not want to spend the night away from home.  Yeah, any other time and they would be begging to spend the night over at a friend’s or relative’s house.  And then there is the cold that I seem to be coming down with.  Yeah, my romantic weekend is going to be super.

Like most people, I look forward to some rest and relaxation during the weekend.  Not a great deal, mind you, just a little.  After the yard work, cleaning, etc, I usually plan to just sit back and relax, maybe watch some TV, read, you know, the simple stuff that helps you unwind.  Lately that has not been the case.  There is always something coming up that we “have to do”.  This weekend is a birthday, Father’s Day, and out of town relatives visiting.  I can look forward to having maybe five minutes to myself all weekend.

Did I forget to mention that is is oppressively hot and all of the activities planned are outside?
