Sleeping in shadows

   Posted by: Yoggie

She whispered to me in the night,
“Come, be with me.”
I asked the darkness,
“Who are you?”
The breath of wind answered,
“I am desire and nirvana.”
I searched the night and pondered,
“Why do you seek me?”
A film of shadow responded,
“It is you who seeks me.”
I questioned the pale blue eyes before me,
“Why do you come for me?”
The flowing raven hair returned,
“Your loneliness called out for me.”
Her thin, wispy figure pulled from my lips,
“Are you angel or succubus?”
The pale, thin lips replied,
“I am both… and nether.”
From my trembling lips came,
“Are you my love or my executioner?”
The antiphon from the lovely woman with the pale face,
“I am your ultimate love and your bliss of death.”

I closed my eyes and felt her cool lips touch mine,
And her beauty enveloped me as the morning broke through the windows,
and the dream faded.

I’m a poet and of it unaware…

   Posted by: Yoggie

Not really a poet, more a guy who wrote some stuff that sometimes passes as poetry. Because some people were foolish enough to compliment my uhm “poetry”, I’ve gotten this silly idea that other people might want to read it. So here is something I wrote back in April of ’89 when I was in my “write poems about what I observe” stage. Yes, this poem is about real people and, no, I am not one of the two people. I hadn’t even met the woman who would become my wife yet. So here goes…

HER SECOND WEDDING

She steps up to the alter,
And she looks into my eyes,
But all she can see is him.
And she turns away with a tear in her eye.

The priest begins the rite,
And I look into her eyes,
But all I see is her love for him.
And she turns away with a tear in her eye.

We repeat our vows,
And I look into her eyes,
But all I see is her love for me.
And she turns away with a tear in her eye.

I place the ring on her finger,
And she looks into my eyes,
But all she sees is my love for her.
And she turns away with a tear in her eye,
And a tender smile on her lips.
